A few weeks ago I started gathering information about which restaurants would be offering vegan iftars in Dubai this year. I did know that there were a few last year but I actually didn’t try any of them. Being one day into Ramadan I feel like Dubai might be the place to be as a fasting vegan in 2019! The below list shall give you enough inspiration to choose your vegan iftars in Dubai this year – please do let me know if you have tried any of them (and how you liked them) and if there are any that I have missed out on and should include in this list!
Little Erth by Nabz & G (JLT)
This amazing little gem in JLT is offering a daily lebanese inspired vegan iftar throughout the entire month! There’s a soup to start with, a salad / hummus / vegan kibbeh to follow and a main to choose from (e.g. stuffed baby marrow with vegan yoghurt or erth style koshari) and of course a vegan dessert option to finish with! You can check out the entire menu here. Please make sure to book beforehand. It’s only 120AED per couple in the first week and 89AED per person throughout the rest of the month. We have already been this week and absolutely loved it. Click on this link to go to the full review.
Common Grounds (Mall of the Emirates)
Common Grounds is partnering with One Good Thing this year to offer an exciting daily plant-based iftar throughout the entire month at their branch in Mall of the Emirates! It’s an a-la-carte menu which includes 15 (!) vegan mains and three vegan dessert options. The menu is posted in our story highlights on instagram. We tried the Vegan Black Bean and Sesame Burger, the Grilled Cheese Sandwich and the Thai Clay Pot Curry. All dishes were tasty and filling. I believe the Grilled Cheese Sandwich was our favorite because of the mix of vegan mozzarella and caramelized onion on it. The highlight was the vegan chocolate peanut cheesecake we had as dessert. It was super rich and chocolaty and the texture was very cheesecake-like as well.
Fuchsia (Barsha Heights & Business Bay)
Fuchsia is offering a daily Thai vegan iftar this year and I’m beyond excited about it as the dessert option is Mango Sticky Rice (one of my favorites!). Starters include Summer Spring Rolls and Tofu Satay. There’s also a choice of soup or salad and the choice of main includes vegan pad thai, wok fried quinoa or stir fried tofu. The vegan iftar menu is 75AED only whilst the regular iftar menu (not vegan) is 89AED. I absolutely love the fact that something vegan finally is cheaper and hopefully therefore also more attractive for everyone! I have shared the full menu on my instagram story highlights in case you want to check it out.
My Govinda’s (Al Karama)
My Govinda’s is an Indian pure vegetarian restaurant which is offering a daily vegan iftar this year for 40AED only! It starts out with dates & watermelon juice or mint cooler. You can then choose either soya keema or tawa veg as well as soybean tikka, veg seekh kebab or italian pasta salad. Check out the full menu options in my story highlights and enjoy your vegan Indian iftar!
Gypsy (Marina & Delivery)
Gypsy in the Dubai Marina is a new hotspot with amazing vegan options (they normally serve things like vegan lasagne or vegan sausage rolls) which I haven’t managed to try yet. They are offering a daily vegan iftar menu for only 65AED as well. It’s a 4-course menu and you can choose one soup, salad, main and dessert each! Mains include Molokhia & Meatballs as well as Greek Moussaka and for dessert you can even enjoy a vegan chocolate cake! Check out their instagram stories for the whole menu!
Organiclicious is a great place in JBR, which has added a vegan iftar option to their menu. As with most other iftars it’s a 4-course choice menu of soup, salad, main & dessert. The vegan options range from Nana Pancakes over Chickpea Vegan Pasta to Sweet Boats. Do let me know if you had time to pass by there I really want to know how everything was!
Myocum (Jumeirah, Al Wasl Road)
Myocum will be hosting four vegan iftars throughout the month of Ramadan. It will be every Saturday – on the 11th & 25th of May there will be an Asian vegan iftar and on the 18th of May & 1st of June there will be the “Myocum Style” vegan iftar. Please make sure to book in advance as these tend to be popular!
Eat Well Restaurant (Za’abeel)
Eat Well Restaurant is hosting a family style vegan iftar every Thursday throughout the month. The dates are 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th of May and it costs 140AED per person (kids under 5 years eat for free and under 10 only pay half – this iftar is also on the entertainer!). There will be lots of vegan starters, salads, mains & desserts! I’ve been to the vegan christmas dinner and really loved how much effort they put into creating innovative & healthy vegan dishes and am expecting a similar positive experience for the vegan iftars!
Life’n One Café (Jumeirah)
This all-time favorite vegan café is offering a vegan iftar inspired by Latin flavors on May 16th! Chef Kiki and Victor will be preparing dishes like the “pulled beef” spiced plantains with caraotas (black beans), cauliflower rice, cashew hard cheese and avocado and rice pudding ice cream with roasted figs as dessert. Check out Life’n One Café on instagram for all the details. It’s 175AED per person and needs to be booked in advance.
Rove Hotels & Flavors by Zendi & Dubai Vegan Days
On the last Saturday of May (25th) there will be a Vegan Iftar at the Rove Healthcare City from 6:30PM – 10PM for 99AED per adult / 49AED per child. Zendy Marsam who is the chef of the monthly vegan brunches at the Rove Healthcare City will offer a 5-course vegan iftar dinner. There will be vegan vendors showcasing their products and a short talk on Iftar Health & Nutrition as well. The iftar will contain soups, juices, salads as well as vegan desserts (Raw Chocolate Orange Cake) and mains such as Tempeh with smocked BBQ sauce and vegan Tzatziki.
