Bounty Beets at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina is a rather new kid on the block as well and it didn’t take me too long until my first visit. It’s a lovely indoor & outdoor venue at the ground floor of the hotel and immediately sets itself apart from other hotel cafés with its pinkish and poppy decor. It’s the place to take breakfast Instagram pictures of oneself, others and the food!
The menu offers almost anything you could ever ask for. It’s all-day breakfast with a wide range of different breakfast & lunch bowls. But there’s also pizza and proper (mostly non-vegan) main dishes, a few vegan dessert options (thank you!) and a long drinks menu ranging from special lattes to wine, beer & cocktails. There are clearly marked vegan / egg / dairy labels on the menu and I have to inform everyone upfront that the sweet potato pancakes are not actually vegan but can be made vegan upon request.
Personally I love when there’s more to read on the menu than just the food & drinks and I was delighted to inform myself about Bounty Beet’s approach to sourcing ingredients from local and organic vendors whenever possible. Additionally they are trying to reduce their environmental footprint and be more sustainable by reducing food waste to a minimum and using a special composter for the remains.
Back to the food: we came for a mid-day breakfast and ended up ordering the Acai Berry Power Bowl as well as the Raspberry and Coconut Bowl first. Whilst both bowls were tasty, nicely presented and topped with a reasonable amount of granola / coconut flakes, berries etc. they were both a bit too liquid for our liking.
Afterwards we had the Avo Toast and the Bread & Spreads. The Avo Toast was definitely more unique than the regular Avocado Toast I have tried in the past couple of months as it was topped not only with smashed avocado but also with mushrooms, grilled asparagus and rucola. I really liked the change and the toppings added welcomed flavors. The Bread & Spreads were a bit of a disappointment or perhaps I’m just too spoiled with the bread basket from Le Pain Quotidien, which is huge and comes with a wide selection of almost unlimited spreads for only 44AED. So this dish was 28AED and it consisted of three small pieces of toasted seed bread with two small cups of spreads (one of them was chocolate spread and the other one was jam). It wasn’t only that I thought that the portion size was rather small but also that the bread tasted like some plain toast.
Overall I think that I might have simply tried the wrong dishes on the wrong day but my level of satisfaction was rather low after this breakfast. The concept is truly unique and the variety of (vegan) options on the menu is great but hopefully it’s just one of those early days of a new restaurant being open in which there are some small areas of opportunity in terms of the actual execution. I do still recommend you do stop by there yourself – everything was flavorful and I’m sure the vegan Organic Black Bean Burger, the Sweet Potato Gnocchi and the Raw Apple Tart or Coconut Caramel Cheesecake will be absolutely delicious. Do let me know your thoughts if you have been!
