Did you ever wonder what to do after another 3-hour shopping trip to Ikea during which you didn’t buy anything other than candles and napkins? Ikea isn’t really located central in Dubai and it took me up to 40 minutes to get there from Al Barsha before, so I thought, since I’m here already, I might as well check out the shopping center connected to Ikea in Festival City. Actually it has developed a lot since my last visit almost 10 months ago and there are quite a few things to shop, see and eat now!
After having tried tons of vegan cookies at the Ikea food shop (I promise, more about that another time.. ) I wasn’t really hungry anymore, but I had heard before that there was an Ice Cream Parlor with an amazing choice of vegan sorbets hidden somewhere at the Festival City Mall. I went to check out the mall directory and found Amorino quickly on the ground floor. Amorino serves natural Ice Cream, which is prepared without any artificial colors or flavorings and well known for the flower shaped Ice Cream served in cones all over the world.
When I went to their small location (with a few seating options) I didn’t expect more than being able to try a few delicious fruit sorbets, as these ones are easy to find recently. However, to make it short: I found another sorbet flavor, which I absolutely love and never tried before: Pistachio. I have to admit I’m that kind of person that sneaks into the kitchen at night to grab a spoon full of peanut butter as well, so it’s not surprising that I fell in love with the pistachio sorbet. It was super delicious and flavorful and didn’t have a sorbet character at all since it was really creamy. The second flavor I tried was the Dark Chocolate Sorbet, which was great as well, especially for chocolate lovers. Other than that Amorino offers a wide range of fruit sorbets, during my visit I saw strawberry, lemon, passion fruit, raspberry and mango. Luckily they’ve got a vegan-label, so it’s easy to identify them 😉
Amorino has three branches in Dubai and one small kiosk at the Dubai Mall (with only one vegan flavor). It’s not that difficult to find natural fruit sorbets in Dubai anymore, but if you are craving a dark chocolate or pistachio sorbet you should definitely stop by here! They’ve got lots of other sweets and treats (crepes, waffles, coffee) available but it was difficult for me to identify them as vegan / not vegan as the staff was not really knowledgeable. I simply had to assume that the cones aren’t vegan as unfortunately no one understood my question. Would have loved to have a flower shaped Ice Cream though!
