You might have asked yourself already – who is this crazy girl that does anything to avoid cooking but still wants to be vegan?
Well, here’s my story: originally from Germany, having lived in Austria and Kuwait before landing in Dubai, I’ve just turned vegan about half a year ago. Ever since I saw Cowspiracy I knew there was no way I could go back to eating chicken, eggs and my so loved cheese every day. Of course I was shocked by the cruelty with which animals are being treated, but it was not new to me. What made me change my mind within a couple of days was the environmental impact consuming animal products has. I simply didn’t know that animal agriculture is responsible for more greenhouse gas emission than transportation or that I could indirectly save 4000 liters of water daily by following a plant-based diet.
Honestly, when I started, I never thought I’d be able to give up on cheese, greek yoghurt, ice cream and my favorite chocolate. And guess what? I can not. It turned out to be a new hobby for me to find every single kind of chocolate, cookie and drink that is only plant based. Having just moved to Dubai, being a bad cook and new to a vegan lifestyle I struggled finding options – especially with there only being one officially vegan restaurant! So I decided from now on I will share whatever I find on my blog to make it easier for the rest of the world!
